Barre Chords

Before you answer that question, let me just say that barre chords can be a real monster- particularly if have small hands. In fact, some musicians (including professionals) avoid playing them altogether!

So, there isn't any shame in admitting that barre chords can be hard to experience, however that doesn't mean they're impossible. The key to success is having an agenda and staying with it before you win.

Here are some tips for tackling the barre chord "monster"...

1. The first thing you can do to learn effectively to learn barre chords would be to confirm the action around the guitar you'll be using. If your strings are placed too high you might like to lower the experience so as to make the chords much easier to play.

2. A different way to reduce the futility of barre chords is by using a capo. This will likely automatically lower the action so you don't have to apply as much pressure on the strings. It is best to put the capo around the 2nd fret in case you are not familiar with one because this will appear comparable to playing that don't have them.

3. Make use of a half-barre, or partial barre, before trying to experience the full barre chord.
